In 1992, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution by which 22 March was declared as World Water Day, starting in 1993 with a different theme for each year. The theme in 2021 is Valuing Water. “The value of Water is much higher than its price – Water is of immense and complex value to every household, food, culture, health, education, economy and integrity of our natural environment. If we omit any of these values, we will have the risk of mismanaging finite, irreplaceable resources. Without a comprehensive understanding of the true, multidimensional value of Water, we will not be able to protect this vital resource for human benefits.
In March, there is also an important day which is 14th March – International Rivers Day.
On this occasion, Vietnam Rivers Network (VRN) developed the theme “Value of Water – Water Security in Vietnam”. We will continuously post articles on this topic and look forward to receiving your attention by posting, sharing and giving feedback to us so that all of us can respond and promote community concerns about the Value of Water to our planet.
